
The Civic Council, in cooperation with East West Communications
and Hood College, in Frederick, Maryland, sponsored a series
of talks at the college by ambassadors to the United States,
focusing on issues of global importance. The purpose of these
talks was for Americans to get first-hand information about
issues of broad importance from those with first-hand knowledge.
Among the topics covered were issues of freedom and democracy,
economic and social development, dealing with health issues
such as HIV/AIDS, and various conflicts around the world.
