Visiting Ambassador Series
The Civic Council, in cooperation with East West Communications and Hood College, in Frederick, Maryland, sponsored a series of talks at the college by ambassadors to the United States, focusing on issues of global importance. The purpose of these talks was for Americans to get first-hand information about issues of broad importance from those with first-hand knowledge.

Among the topics covered were issues of freedom and democracy, economic and social development, dealing with health issues such as HIV/AIDS, and various conflicts around the world.
